Brad was born June 17, 1960, at Bozeman, Montana. He is the middle son of three boys born to Glen and Shirley Davis, who currently reside at Battle Ground, Washington. By the time he was 10 years-old, Brad and his family had moved from Mount Ellis Academy 'in Montana, to Upper Columbia Academy, Walla Walla Valley Academy, and Columbia Adventist Academy, the latter three in Washington. He spent his remaining elementary school years and high school years attending Meadow Glade School and Columbia Adventist Academy, where he graduated in 1979. He then attended Walla Walla College and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and a minor in religion. He has since followed up with additional teaching credentials in math, science, and biology. During his elementary school years, Brad learned to play the piano and trumpet. He continues to play his trumpet for church, community functions, etc., and he plays the piano for church, fellowship suppers, and his own enjoyment. From 1978 to 1985, Brad worked at Big Lake Youth Camp in Central Oregon during the three summer months. He was a boy's counselor, learned to play the guitar, instructed nature, canoeing, and swimming, lead out with gymnastics, basketball, Counselor-In-Training, and bike camps, and was camp pastor during those 8 summers. In-between his college education, Brad took two years off to work as a volunteer boy's dean/pastor at Laurelwood Academy in Oregon and Assistant Youth Director for the Oregon Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. In 1986, following his first year of teaching at Fortuna Junior Academy in California, Brad met his heart-throb, Nadine Peterson, at Pacific Union College while taking summer school classes. Exactly one year later Brad and Nadine were married, June 28, 1987. On October 9, 1988, Brandon Michael Davis was born. He is their pride and joy. Brad taught grades 7 - 10, Bible, Algebra, Geometry, Math, and P.E. at Fortuna Junior Academy, 1985-1991. He taught the next two years in Washington, where he became principal of the school his second year. He has been principal and 7th & 8th homeroom teacher since 1993 at Orangevale Seventh-day Adventist School, near Sacramento, California. Brad has run some 60 road races, mostly 10K and a few half-marathons. In 1995, while playing basketball, he severed his left Achilles tendon, immediately ending his running for awhile. His current goal is to run the California International Marathon in Sacramento. Recently, Brad has revived the love of climbing mountains. In
2001 he climbed Mt. Shasta. He would love to climb it again sometime because he
was unable to summit due to poor weather conditions. In 2002 he made his second
climb to the top of Mt. Whitney, the highest point in the lower 48 states. When
school dismisses for the summer, he can't wait for the first hiking experience
of the summer. Brad loves to collect butterflies, traveling to all parts of the United States to seek out one that he doesn't currently have in his collection. He is an avid Portland Trailblazers, St. Louis Rams, and Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoys all outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, climbing mountains, studying nature, and water sports. He loves all ball sports, especially playing basketball in the Christian Men's league the past few years. He sings with the AHMen (Adventist Health men) representing the Adventist Health corporate office (where his wife works), strums his guitar for chapels at school, and plays the piano for a wedding now and then. Brad and his family are currently members of the Orangevale Seventh-day Adventist Church. His life is his family, his church, and his work. Brad is completely devoted to God, serving Him with a Christian education twist, and no greater joy would come to him than to see his family in heaven some day.
PhotosMr. Davis kept his word and spent part of the day on the roof of the school because the
students met their fundraising goal... Mr. Davis doing "manly" work! Working hard in the Principal's office... |
