On October 18, 1999 our school experienced an assembly called, Wild Thing. This assembly was sponsored by our Home and School!

The assembly was an exciting presentation by a animal recovery and rehabilitation program in Auburn, California. Our students learned about living in harmony with our animals by realizing that humans have infringed on animals and not vise-versa.

All of the animals that came to visit us were taken to the recovery program for rehabilitation. They expect to eventually release each of these animals into the wild again.

We got to see and learn about a beaver, owl, desert tortoise, mountain lion, alligator, and turkey vulture! The presenter went into great detail about each animal and his answers to our questions were informative and very interesting!

This is the alligator! We all got to touch it too (after the presenter put a Velcro band around its mouth!)...

This is a Turkey Vulture!

The presenter was super fantastic and he kept everyone's attention...
