James Stacey graduated with an Associate in Applied Sciences degree in 1994 and has worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant for over 20 years. James has specialized in Long Term Care of the elderly while working in rehabilitation at local nursing homes at first, then for a home based community care program for the elderly called PACE in Chattanooga, TN. Through his place of employment while in Tennessee, Mr. Stacey has consulted for and assessed hundreds of homes for accessibility. He has also not only recommended hundreds of pieces of equipment to his clients over the years, but often installed much of it himself including some ramps. Over the years, James has taken a special interest in serving the elderly, persons with disabilities, and autism in their own home environment. Mr. Stacey has also earned two certifications in recent years gearing towards accessibility and home modifications in residential and commercial settings. He is a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS), and a Certified Environmental Access Specialist (CEAC).  James has had brief experience within the construction community working alongside family in building and revising floor plans for four homes over 3000 sq ft. including his own which added to his experience with modifying home environments. He served on the building campaign committee at his place of work in Chattanooga designing and redesigning both their Alzheimer’s Care building and Main campus building for additional and more functional space. Mr. Stacey has also served as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and has designed accessible homes for their organization.
 
Since moving to California in the past year and a half, James has been working in both skilled nursing and more recently with a contract company emphasizing care for persons/children with Autism within various settings including schools, homes, and clinic settings.  James is married to Laurie Stacey who is the Extended Care Director at OV School as well as an assistant teacher in the 1-2 grade classroom, and Facebook entries. His son Gavin is in Junior High at the school as well. James likes to hike, backpack, kayak, work in his garage, travel, and spend time with his family. He also teaches the Junior class for the Orangevale Church on Sabbath’s. James loves working with the kids and has a passion for the school. He states, “God has brought us here to California just to work with this school and church”; “He calls for us to take that leap of faith and just let him lead in our lives”.
